I have been working hard so I can share with you my projects from the World Watercolor Month Challenge. If you are not familiar with the challenge, every July Doodlewash and many others encourage artists to do a watercolor painting or project everyday for the month of July. I really wanted to challenge myself to get better at watercoloring. Even though I am still a novice at it, I enjoyed doing it.
Most of my paintings were turned into cards, but a few I left as just a painting. I may change that in the future, but for now I am cool with what I got done. The process was fun and I think I did get better not only at the painting part, but I also got better at the patience part. Sometimes you just have to walk away and come back to it in order to see its potential. I did that a few times and looked at the painting with fresh eyes and was pleasantly surprised at how much better it looked. Sometimes we are just harder on ourselves than we need to be, at least I think that is what I suffer from often.
I am so glad that I participated in this challenge and all the stuff I learned. Also, I am surprised that I was able to see this all the way to the end. In the past I have had a tendency to not finish events like this. I let life get in the way. How many projects do we have that we intended to finish…but didn’t. I don’t know about you, but I have a bunch. The next challenge to myself is to look at those unfinished projects, pick one and knock it out. What will be your next project?
Let me know which paintings are your favorite, I would love to hear from you. 🙂
