I love to make gifts for people. Unfortunately I suffer from indecision which makes me procrastinate and the gifts are usually late. The indecision comes from one of two avenues: I either have lots of ideas and can’t decide which one to do, or I worry that what I decided to make will not be well received by the recipient. Granted, a third avenue could be lack of proper planning and inability to stay focused.
The gift I am sharing with you today was the situation where I had several ideas that I wanted to do and loved them all. I narrowed it down to one, finally, and began the project. Then we had some family emergencies come up and before I knew it the gift was a month or two behind. What is the rule on wedding gifts? Just have them delivered before their 25th wedding anniversary? I do hope the sweet couple I made this for enjoys it as much as I did while making it.
This gift is what you would call an explosion box. I thought I would try something different than my normal mini albums. (They really are fun, but these are exciting) The magic happens when you untie the bow and lift the lid and the sides fall down to reveal a paper craft cake (calorie and sugar free) and places to add some favorite photos.
The longest part of the assembly is just deciding colors, paper, and embellishments. After that it really doesn’t take long to make. There are lots of tutorials out there if you would like to explore other options but I do hope you give this a try. Just think about all the possibilities! For birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, baby or maybe just to cheer up a friend…
Let me know what you think!
*video instructions for this explosion box are coming soon and will be added to the “classes” section of my website.
**As will a lot of my gifts I make for family and friends some of the product might be retired. I hope this encourages you to see what you already have on hand that could work and make this project your own.
