Hello Stampers!

Greetings from Tennessee! We are hanging out in the south this week and even though it’s been a bit rainy we have enjoyed our stay so far.  The people are so friendly, and the landscape is super pretty. We have gotten to bike ride a couple of times.  One ride we took was about 8 miles and the trail was super pretty.  I also tried mountain biking for the first time! It was a beginner course, I thought it was hard…Chris said it was cake.  I was just so glad I didn’t break myself or the bike.  I am willing to try it again but am wondering if there are any mountain bike trails for a four-year-old?? (if you want to keep up on our traveling adventures, Chris posts here on Facebook and here on his blog.)

I brought a bunch of new products with me so I could play with them.  Crafting is the prefect rainy day activity! I needed a thank you card for friends we visited while we were out here.  One of the things that I am enjoying is catching up with friends who are living around the country. I grabbed my Thoughtful Journey Suite because I was in the mood to watercolor. I haven’t had much time to watercolor, so I am a bit rusty, but I love doing it and want to get better. If you want to get started with water coloring, I always like to tell people to be patient with yourself and focus on having fun not the result.  As you practice you will get better!  You will start to get a feel for how the water and ink react with each other.  The hardest part is letting the medium do its thing and just relaxing.  I assure you it’s worth taking the time to just let yourself experiment. Before you know it water coloring will be on your list of things that help you unwind and relax.

I hope you take some time to relax and do some creative therapy today. Thanks for stopping by!

162607 Perennial Postage Dies
163414 Eyelet 3D Folder

Ink Pads

Other items:

Die cutting machine
Paper towel

Directions:

  1. Emboss the card base front with the Eyelet 3D folder. Set aside.
  2. Stamp the large leafy image, the floral image, and the greeting in black ink.
  3. Squeeze the ink pads to get ink onto the inside lid of the ink pad. Using this ink watercolor as shown in the photo. (if you would like to see a video on beginner water coloring let me know.)
  4. Set aside the water coloring to dry or use your heat tool to speed the process.
  5. After the ink is dry, use the Perennial Postage dies to die cut each image as shown in the sample.
  6. Also die cut the DSP with the (4 ½ x 3 ¼) postage die.
  7. Adhere the water colored pieces to the pattern paper as shown in the finished project.
  8. Set the art piece on the cutting mat. Gently ink up the post mark image. It’s important not to press too hard or you will get ink in the debossed areas of the image.  Just a gentle tap will do to get ink on the raised areas.  Carefully set the post mark image ink side down where you want it to ne on your art piece and run through your die cutting machine.  The post mark machine is designed to deboss the image not cut but you can run it through your machine with the same sammie as you do when die cutting. When removing be careful not to let the die slide or shift you can.  This is the part where taking your time and moving slowly is good.  Also, if you have a magnet that can lift it off the paper without sliding it would work well.
  9. Using dimensionals or foam tape, adhere the finished art piece to the card base.

*Use a sharpie to mark on the folder which plates you need. Remember “1” is your base and “4” goes on top of the embossing folder containing your paper.  You always need to “sandwich” your folders and dies so that the rollers don’t warp or break them.
